The Pain Relief Path

An individualized, four phase protocol to ease chronic pain naturally and get you back to living an active life!

I'm so glad you found your way here. You're in the right place if:

  • You are an active and highly driven person who’s exhausted from dealing with recurring or chronic pain for more than a couple of months without relief.

  • You have tried different treatments (maybe it even feels like you’ve tried everything) but you have this gut feeling there is something "missing" and need someone who will listen to what’s happening with YOUR body.

  • You have experienced hormonal symptoms like hot flashes/ night sweats, sleep disturbances, and mood problems alongside your pain and don’t understand why there isn’t a system to treat all of these symptoms.

  • You are tired of having to cancel plans (or avoid making them in the first place) because of your pain, or because you’re not able to keep up.

  • You are frustrated, fatigued and starting to lose hope that you’ll ever figure out why you’re not getting better.

  • You are ready to feel confident, fit and stronger than ever so you can move on to accomplish your next set of goals in life!

Your body has the capacity to heal. You can be active and energetic again.

Pain is just your body’s way of telling you that something isn't right. By investigating what is ringing this alarm bell, we can look inside the body to uncover dysfunction like inflammation, autoimmunity, and hormonal changes, and discover how to treat them to resolve pain.

For many of my patients, their pain slowly crept on until they noticed they were no longer able to work like they used to without suffering, and they were unable to enjoy all the old activities they did in the past. Often times, it happened alongside symptoms like poor sleep, hot flashes/night sweats and changes in their mood or cognition. Hormonal changes during perimenopause and menopause contribute to these changes in pain systems and can be treated.

I promise you; we were all born to move. Humans are incredibly resilient. Your body has the capacity to heal. You can be active and energetic again. You deserve to live with less pain so you can continue to accomplish everything on your bucket list. Aging is not a good enough reason to have this much pain.

Adventure-seeking-pain-sufferers have usually tried many different things to resolve their pain (it can feel like a full-time job trying to figure this out). By treating what’s going on with both your musculoskeletal system (muscles, joints, bones etc.) AND your other body systems (think: hormones, inflammation, autoimmunity), you will gain an incredible understanding of how you’re capable of feeling without pain. The other neat part: the therapies you may have tried in the past can actually prove to be much more effective when the other underlying causes are resolved!

Common reasons I see that people aren’t healing from chronic pain are that the underlying causes, including inflammation, autoimmunity, and hormone imbalances, have not yet been identified and addressed appropriately (even if they’ve had ‘ALL’ the tests done).

How did The Pain Relief Path get started?

Sarah Vosburgh-11_websize.jpg

After studying Kinesiology at Queen’s University, I knew there must be ‘more’ to treating pain than just treating the musculoskeletal system (muscles, joints, bones etc.) This is what led me to naturopathic medicine. After years of studying the human body, researching pain and working with patients, the Pain Relief Path was born.

I saw so many women in their late 30’s-50’s suffering from hormonal symptoms like hot flashes, insomnia, mood problems and PAIN! I was fascinated by this connection that I continued to see repeatedly and was motivated to do something about it.

It wasn't until I dug deeply into uncovering what was happening with patients muscles/ joints AND the other body systems involved that I began to see the results I knew were possible. After suffering from pain myself for years, I know how isolating, lonely and discouraging this process can feel. But, I also know how happy it makes me to be able to head out with friends whenever someone wants to go for a hike, without fear of pain or wondering what I'll be capable of doing.

How does the Pain Relief Path work?

Through individual, 1:1 appointments, either virtually or in person, the Pain Relief Path provides a methodology and resources to take you through the four main phases.

The Four Phases

The Pain Relief Path takes patients through a four phase methodology that Dr. Vosburgh has refined and developed over years of working with patients suffering with chronic pain. Throughout the process, these four phases are completely individualized to each persons unique pain.
